Everyone in my class had a great experience-- I wish I could say the same. If you're attending to enjoy a hobby class or unwind after a work week, that wasn't my experience. To be fair, I wasn't an ideal student: I was sick, I had long nails, and I really struggled to understand my instructor's accent. I also didn't do my due diligence and look up any rules prior, which might be why my class turned out this way?

I apologize to my instructor that night! I had a time concentrating because of a headache. I thought I was just silently suffering, but if I was more disruptive than I thought, I sincerely apologize. Ultimately, I think it's inappropriate in NYC, at least to ask grown adult: " Do we have a problem here? " and suggest corporal punishment.

My instructor was very knowledgeable but very intense and a bit sensitive. And in my personal experience... rude?

Our instructor asked questions to keep us engaged, but I hesitated to respond because I didn't immediately understand. Our instructor got frustrated, and I felt like he interpreted our slow responses as disinterest rather than us taking time to process.

I didn't appreciate how my instructor spoke to me. Before class, I let my instructor know I was feeling under the weather. During the demonstration, I had a hard time concentrating because of personal reasons. I was looking at a board in the studio during the demo and my instructor stopped the demonstration and asked the class loudly "Do we have a problem here?" I was surprised any teacher would address an adult student this way, so I didn't respond the first time. So he asked again louder, "Do we have a problem here? Because if we have a problem here, you can stand here." I wasn't feeling well, but I don't like conflict, so I stood there for the majority of the demonstration.

I asked for help or tips opening up my first piece because I have long nails. He remarked I did have long nails, and I was going to have a hard time and walked away. He helped me open up my second piece, so maybe he wanted me to try for the first one?

Personally, I felt unwelcomed by the instructor after this.

I wouldn't return, but my friend who invited me says that she appreciated the tips on hand positioning our instructor gave. My instructor also helped remake a piece for a student who accidentally ruined her piece during clean up.

Zerimar Clay was a great experience!
Emerson is a great teacher and Anik was very generous with his help. Loved the class and working with the clay, and excited about future classes too!
Thanks to both of them for a wonderful time!

I bought a Groupon for a Pottery Class for two totaling about $186 and change. I went in person to redeem the Groupon, as the website is incredibly confusing, when it comes to available times and scheduling, so I thought I'd walk-in.

I traveled about 45 minutes only to get there and be told that I have to schedule online. I told them that the website is incredibly confusing, but instead of helping me schedule online, the workers simply told me to email the owner.

So, I go to a bar near by to try again to find the schedule page on the website. I find a schedule with times, and see a class on the same day. This is great. I figured I hangout in the bar with my lady, have a few drinks and head over when the time comes. I click around Zerimar's website to book a time that day, but the voucher number doesn't work. I try the Groupon code; that doesn't work either. I find an email on the website, so I email to ask how I can redeem my Groupon voucher. I'm given a list of instructions (attached the screenshot below) that I follow to the T, but I get no response back. I email again to reschedule, but still get no response. I call, but they don't pick up, so I leave a voicemail. At this point, I'm not sure if Zerimar is scamming me, or if I'm in an episode of Black Mirror. I do know one thing though; I would not recommend Zerimar if you are using Groupon; the process to redeem is horrendous, and at this point, I'm finding that my learning of pottery has turned into a lesson in patience. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my girlfriend, and I feel like all of this is unnecessarily stressful.

At this point, with Groupon not allowing me the refund, Zerimar could potentially keep stalling by not responding until the expiration date, and get away with the money I paid. I'm hoping this review might get their attention, and they'd maybe provide me the service I paid for.

Come on Zerimar. Do the right thing.

The 2 instructors managed to teach 20 participants with no experience. That’s incredible. Adam praises you in such a sincere manner, you just keep going when all you made is a clay mound. 😂. They made the class very enjoyable. Would highly recommend this studio.
