I have ONLY positive things to say about Z and my experience learning from him! Not only is he extremely talented, he is an enthusiastic and devoted teacher. He really cares about each of his students and works to personalize the experience to match each person’s interests and skills. His classes often involve a combination of a “demo” in which he teaches about a fundamental concept such as how to apply value or how to draw an eye. He demonstrates each concept and then allows time for practice in various exercises as well as working on projects we are interested in.

You can start at any level with Z. I had not done any type of art in about 10 years before my first class with Z, and am a beginner by all measures. He has helped me re-explore art in a fun and non-intimidating way. Z would also be very effective for more advanced artists; I have observed more advanced students comment things along the lines of “I only wish someone had explained this to me years earlier!” in classes. He really breaks things down and manages to teach in a very organized fashion while keeping the atmosphere of his classes upbeat and collaborative. He also provides all of the materials for class, which is a plus.

If you are looking to learn from someone who is an expert artist and also has a heart for teaching, look no further than Z!

Mr. Z is an amazing teacher who truly cares about his students and believes that anyone can make great art if they put in the effort. Back when he used to be my art teacher in high school, I’ve always found him to be an easy-going, open-minded, and patient instructor. If someone was stuck on how to approach a project, he’d sit down and work with them, offering suggestions and examples of other artists from various time periods and movements until they found something that worked for them. Mr. Z was an exceptional teacher to me. He was always there when you needed him. He taught me how to convert what I wanted to create into paper. There are good artists and good teachers, but not many great art teachers. Z’s curriculum is thorough and provides an excellent foundation in fine arts. Art has always been difficult for me but since working with Z, I have found art to become surprisingly much easier and no longer intimidating. Z is very passionate and knows how to simplify complex things into ways that are easy to understand. I have progressed further than I've ever had in just two short months with Z. It has been money extremely well-spent.

Learning in-person has also shown me that all the years of trying to learn art from YouTube and online classes just doesn't work and cannot replace in-person instruction.
