I had an "extra" lesson this week with Bri and last month with Juliana (one extra lesson/month if you pay one year in advance) Anyway, both were so incredibly helpful. Each pointed out elements that I have been able to use to make my weekly lessons even better. Thank you!

My weekly lessons with Emily are amazing! Seriously, she's a genius. Today she noticed that I always look to my left when I sing for her and have trouble looking straightforward, even after she pointed it out, I kept pulling to the left. She had me turn my head to the right and sing and everything got soooo much easier. Neither of us know why that worked. Is there unevenness in my muscles such that I have more tension on one side than the other or is it the partially paralyzed cord on the right? Who knows, but the point is that she has this huge toolbox and depth of knowledge about technique and anatomy and she helps me try different things to trace down what is holding me back. It's a science lab and we experiment. I have to pay attention to my body and give her feedback which is like mindfulness exercise that helps me even outside of singing with my mental status.

My local vocal coach is really good because she hears everything. She has bionic ears or something, but she doesn't give me things that I can do to fix it. She can tell me that she hears strain, I'm not in the center of the note, or my placement is off, but, unlike Emily, she doesn't have all these concrete tools to start correcting it. With my local coach, we just keep working until I stumble on something good and then try to repeat what I just accidentally did. Emily’s method is much more efficient and easier to understand.

Anyway, I was so deeply impressed by my lesson today which built perfectly on the great work I did yesterday with Bri. Bri had Emily's notes on me. I was really impressed by that and the level of organization that is underneath the ability to have those notes available to the different coaches.

When I reached out to Lara, I knew my songs were good, but I knew I couldn't sing them.

Thanks to the work I've done with Juliana, my fantastic coach, I overcame my fear of singing. I did a couple open-mics, and a couple of private parties, and finally, an hour long set one of the biggest fairs in Minnesota.

I've been living out a dream of being the frontman that I have had for 25 years.

40 feels as good or better than 25. And I feel momentum in music I haven't felt in 15 years.

I've been taking lessons from Lara for about 4 months. I'm so glad I found her! As others have said, she is a wonderful voice coach. She is very knowledgeable and is good at imparting that knowledge. She is also fun, enthusiastic, inspirational and caring. I feel very comfortable with her--she creates a safe space to do vocal exercises and sing songs that are quite challenging for me. I completed the Confident Singer Program feeling.... better about my singing. Who woulda thought?

I had a tight deadline coming up in which I wanted to write my own song, produce it, and submit it into a contest. Kristin went above and beyond when she helped me with the technical issues I was having with my DAW. Overall, I am feeling really good about this investment. The process is efficient, so over just three months of practicing in the right ways, my voice has already made a significant change for the better.
