Ponte molto carino che porta su un piccolo isolotto. Si possono vedere moltissimi piccoli granchi camminando lungo i sentieri che corrono accanto all’acqua. Si possono vedere anche molti resti di granchi a ferro di cavallo. Il paesaggio che si specchia nell’acqua è molto bello.

Uncle Tim’s Bridge crosses Duck Creek and connects Hamblen Island to the central village of Wellfleet.  In the 1800s Timothy E. Daniels, known as Uncle Tim, had a retail shop located right across from the bridge which bears his name to this day.

Uncle Tim’s Bridge is listed on the State Historic Register.

Uncle Tim’s Bridge is open to the public, year round.

This place is fun with 3 paths to choose from. We spotted about 30 horseshoe crab shells after they molted. The fiddler crabs were up and about around the sandy areas. Free parking down the street and a used book store close by.

What a great place for an afternoon walk. We took the dogs and started over the bridge, looking at all of the tiny crabs! So cool! We walked on the shady side first to keep the pups cool and there was a great breeze blowing. There were a bunch of dead horseshoe crabs because of the low tide, but luckily the dogs had no interest in eating them . It was a nice short walk out and then went back through the middle trail, again in the shade cover. I would say we were there about 45 minutes but you could make it longer or shorter depending on your adventurousness!

Warning: this post contains some disturbing content, but I think it's important to include it. We parked in the donations-gratefully-accepted small parking lot 400 feet past the bridge and enjoyed our walk around Amblen Island. Unfortunately, we discovered the body of a porpoise or dolphin on the far end of the island, marked with the day of its death, 12/24. We called the Wellfleet PD non-emergency number and were told by a dispatcher that as long as the carcass was marked, the procedure is for nature to take its course and the tide would take the body. However, it has been well above the high tide mark for over a week so I'm not sure nature is going to step in and dispose of this sad creature. In the name of dignity and sanitation? But besides that....

Beautiful little pit-stop. Parking is just down the street from the bridge and it was nice and quiet when we stopped around 3:30pm. Lots of little crabs running around that are fun to watch too.
