I highly recommend the Maile School for anyone who is serious about going into an Acting or Modeling career. The reason I chose the Maile School as the place to launch my acting career is because each instructor has more than 15 years experience in the business and students are taught by at least 3 different instructors during the acting 1 class. This was great because each person has had different experiences that they share with us so that we will be prepared for anything that comes our way. They also shared with us the things that they would do differently if they could do it all again. They taught us strategies for breaking down a script, developing a character, working with other actors, delivering lines in an effective manner, and how to deal with nervousness before a performance. The most impressive part to me was that they taught us about the business. Anybody can go to an audition but if they don't know how to slate properly or what a mark is or when to look into the camera or to the side of it, or if they don't know how to do a cold read, they are not likely to be cast (get the part). They taught us how to do all of that and more. They also gave us guidance on what to expect when working with agents and casting directors. Debby Tapia gave an excellent workshop about the business part of the industry, including a list of agencies that she recommends based on years of working with them. I really enjoyed learning and working with my classmates. I had a great group of people in my class. Part of the reason was because our instructors fostered a safe environment in which we were able to learn and practice acting skills without having to worry about being judged by the instructor or our classmates. If you are serious about entering the acting field, I suggest you start your journey at the Maile school. You cannot go wrong in taking any of the classes there and you will definitely be glad that you chose them as the starting point in your journey.

I've finished the first step of my career path with the Adult Acting program and couldn't be more thankful. Prices were decent, the teachers were all wonderful(Jim was my personal favorite) and it really cemented my confidence and drive to pursue acting. If you want to pursue acting or just have a great time and learn something new, I can't recommend this school enough. No car? No problem. The building is located a skip and a jump away from the Downtown Orlando Lynx Bus Station.

So it’s been a year since I attend a couple of classes at Maile.
Here is my honest opinion.

For commercials, it seems to be great! The teachers are all very well versed in commercials, call backs and having a run around in that section of the industry, so if commercials are what you are after, then please go!.

For acting in film which is what I was originally interested in. They don’t seem to be as knowledgable (I asked about it but they admitted they didn’t know much). i could have been wrong. I only attended for a few sessions.

My main issue was the fact that in many entertainment industries, it’s not so much let’s get you going and have a good head start, it’s a let’s milk the most amount of money we can and give as little back. In my first sessions, it took an hour and half of talking and wasting time before we got into anything in the book. And we were given 2 small excerises to do that in total probably summed up to 20 mins in a three hour session, it was the same regarding the following session and coming from a previous job in the industry, it just didn’t seem right.

I had mentioned this to the teacher of the class and instead of giving me some advice, she said that I would need to spend a $100 an hour extra with lessons for her, then why did I need to spend $600 to just sit around and talk?. If I’m spending $600, I expect $600 worth of information and coaching, summing it up is like going to a 5 star restaurant and only getting the crumbs of a cake but the price tag reads that I bought the menu.

The course was a total of three months, after reading the book of scripts and exercises that were given, it would’ve taken about an hour of work and teaching. My point is simply that in the time frame of teaching here, I managed to get enough training at another school, auditions, callbacks and jobs. All of which would’ve been passed up while attending classes here and getting 10% of the Knowledge I received from the other school,

We love The Maile School. McKenna had the best time learning about runway, commercials, acting, her photo session and of course meeting so many amazing other students. We love Ms. Debby and she really helps the students build confidence and have fun! McKenna looks forward to growing more with The Maile School. The entire team is so kind and always goes above and beyond to make parents and kids feel comfortable and excited about the classes. Great Job - Go Maile school!!
