HWSD imbued me with a lifelong love of dance. The instructors, especially Katy, Carol, and Deej, taught me how to choreograph creatively and express myself through movement. They give individual attention and help you improve technique, strength, and flexibility. I miss it all the time now that I am older!

HWSD is a wonderful dance school with great teachers! My daughter took classes there for 14 years (Creative Movement, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, and Modern) and helped out at the recitals after she graduated. I started taking the Adult Power Dance class (now known as Cardio Groove Fitness) in 2010 and I am currently in my 10th year, with Donna Viau as the instructor. It’s a great mix of stretch, cardio dance, and work with hand weights. I love it and look forward to class each week!

My daughter has been dancing at Hamilton-Wenham for 14 years. I love the focus on the art of dance and collaboration instead of competition. The recital at the end of the year is always fantastic, and the smaller performance throughout the year by Allegro Dance, the small company made up of the older, experienced dancers are creative and fun. I also like the instructor's attention to proper technique, stretching, and strengthening to avoid stress and injury, and making sure that students are truly ready for pointe before they are allowed to participate.

My daughter who is now 21 had many amazing years at HWSD, and now my youngest, my 7 year old is loving her ballet class too! HW is special because they focus on the love of dance and artistic creativity without the pressure of competition. The teachers are amazing. My daughter danced here for close to 18 years, plus working as a dance assistant when she was old enough. Her experience was wonderful throughout! She learned to dance, to love dance, to love performance, to choreograph, to love working with kids. She majored in dance in college, still dances, teaches adaptive dance with a major dance company, and is a pediatric physical therapist. It is safe to say that dance is a major part of her life, nurtured from the start by the caring instruction of the instructors at the Hamilton-Wenham School of Dance.

I danced at The HWSD for 13 years and loved every single year! I looked forward to my ballet and pointe classes with Ms Katy and Ms Carol and always enjoyed working hard towards the recital in June. The environment is very friendly, nonjudgemental, supportive, and comfortable. The HWSD shaped my love and passion for dancing, so I am continuing to pursue ballet in college.

I grew up attending ballet classes with Ms. Katy, and returned to dance as a teen, taking lessons with Ms. Bonnie, Ms. Carol, and Ms. Deej. These wonderful women were and are excellent teachers, skilled at their craft and kind in their pedagogy. I felt so welcomed even after a long break in my dance "career." Their adult class offerings-- especially Stretch!-- are equally wonderful. I can highly recommend this school to any parent who wants their child to learn lessons in creativity, self-esteem, and community. I hope that this stalwart of the Hamilton-Wenham community remains in business for many years to come!
