Other than the fact that I met some awesome people and had an amazing Baking & Pastry instructor, I really regret my decision to attend the Art Institute.

After two years, at two different campuses with two last names, they never once got my name right. Not even on my diploma. They double billed me for eBooks, which took a lot of hassle to get refunded. Transferring from one campus to another was a nightmare that took months to get finished and cost me valuable time as they couldn't authenticate that I had taken prerequisite courses at the first campus in order to take secondary courses at the second campus. I was a cash student - I paid upfront, in full, at the beginning of each quarter. I never took out a loan, got a scholarship or grant, or owed them a dime. Yet my 1098Ts were so messed up, the IRS is coming after me for thousands of dollars, claiming I never paid my tuition.

In trying to remedy the tax situation, everyone keeps giving me the runaround and I can't get a hold of anyone in charge, including the campus presidents at either campus. I actually got hung up by the woman at the main corporate office after I expressed the dire situation that they created for me (because they couldn't do their jobs right in the first place). I've left voice mails for each campus president and accounting office on several occasions and have not heard back from any of them. I got another notice in today's mail from the IRS stating that I owe them the money and extra interest. Of course it's mid-afternoon on a Thursday I can't get a hold of a single person at either campus.

So in summary... If you're considering attending one of the many Art Institute campuses, do yourself a favor - don't.

Don't bother with any Art Institute school, they are all crooks, please do Not bother with any sort of school that is "for profit". They want people from middle/lower middle class financial situations to take out loans in hope of a better future. They charge you excessively and the classes are never available when you need them so out of fear of losing your loans or getting kicked out you take extraneous classes and wrack ip more debt. Please, go to a school that is NOT for profit. It seems a bit more expensive initially but it is worth it. College should not treat you like a walking money sign

Graduated in 2010 with a BFA - Graphic Design. We were allowed to cheat in most academic classes. The dean said it was because "You are creative types and are typically not good at the other stuff." Some of the teachers were incompetent as well. A 100% rip-off. Thankfully, I wasn't incompetent, and have a decent job in my industry. I'm glad Ai got fined by the government for illegal recruitment tactics and I'm glad they're closing a bunch of their corrupt campuses.

Horrible place. They are all crooks. They take advantage of vulnerable people and end up destroying credit and charging people loads of money for NOTHING. Not sorry to see they closed down. Good ridence.
