Jess is a fabulous presenter and instructor! Fun, approachable, engaging, disarming, and insightful. She is a champion for beginners and for art! Our group had such a wonderful time in a warm and joyful atmosphere. We look forward to more sketching, watercolor, and additional class offerings!

I have been an artist all my life. However sometimes life takes a turn and our attention and focus is needed elsewhere. Now is my time… Slow River has supported me in this journey. The instructions are supportive and inspiring. The people that teach as well as the people who gather to learn are amazing! The classes encompass many variations of art, and we are encouraged to explore. Everyone is at a different stage in their art, yet we all enjoy each other’s camaraderie. For me Slow River has entered my life at exactly the right time.

I don’t have enough words to say how wonderful this studio is. Jess and her staff have created a nurturing, relaxing, supportive environment for those who wish to explore their artistic creativity. I took 5 classes in 2023 and look forward to doing an Abstract painting class at the beginning of January. Engaging with this community has given me a new lease on life and I literally “look” at the world a bit differently now. And don’t feel that you need artistic experience to join a class. I still cannot draw a straight line, but it doesn’t matter. The instructors will gently guide you through each course with patience and kindness and tap into skills that you didn’t even know you had. I recommend Slow River Studio with much enthusiasm and love.

Observing other class instructors supports the quality of all artist education and FUN! Classmates are supportive of each other's skill development and are genuinely nice. Love this studio!

I have taken 3 courses at Slow River and loved every minute of it. I will be back next session too! After too many years of not creating art I wanted to get back to it. I signed up for Start drawing and Tony was welcoming and supportive as I slowly got my skills back. I have often said he is better than the teachers I had back in Art school 30 years ago! I strongly recommend Slow River for new and seasoned artists.

I signed up for a Creative Kickstart class on a whim and haven't looked back. The instructors at this studio are top-notch - talented, kind, patient, practiced. They make me feel so welcome and comfortable asking even silly questions as a complete beginner. I'm creating art that I never imagined I could! I love museums and galleries, and have always wished I could draw and paint. I finally decided to try it, and Slow River was the perfect place. I've taken two classes so far, and plan to take as many as I can. Welcoming, supportive, fun, inspiring and educational. I have never taken any art classes before this but have always loved being creative. Slow River is all about empowering anyone to try, anyone to create and express, with no judgement and no pressure. You'll learn from the instructors but also from the others in the classes. I would recommend this to everyone - and I have! 🙂
