The facility is super clean and staff are so friendly. We truly appreciate having a local facility that offers fantastic swim lessons. We absolutely love the lifeguards/swim instructors, who go above and beyond with the kids. John offers a lot of water safety knowledge that we have not found at other facilities.

This gym is okay. I have never had any issues with the staff and I always enjoy getting a smoothie after my workouts (shout out to the lady who works the smoothie stand! She is always very friendly!) This facility seems to be inclusive to seniors and youth and seems to have a fair amount of fitness programming for adults of all ages. However, for weightlifting, it is not my first choice. The weight area is a bit cramped and I always feel like I am in the way of other gym patrons. I saw another review addressing this and the response said something along the lines of not being a “hardcore” gym. I have to say that I do not think wanting a safe amount of room to properly lift weights signifies being a “hardcore” gym. Weightlifting is a popular health activity for young to mid-aged adults and it is not an unreasonable critic to say that some expansion in this section is needed. Perhaps there will be the ability to expand in the future, but for now, when I am able, I choose to go to the Decatur County YMCA for weightlifting.

Not a safe place for children, there lockeroon situation forces you to share a room with just anyone. And there child care workers always on their phones.

I called ahead and asked if I could bring my child along with my friends 2 children and the girl said yes, that's no problem! Just come in and pay for a day pass for each child and they can come, they even said I could get a membership and add them too. I bring them, the long time child watch employees gave me a form to fill out for them, I signed them in and they did not say anything was wrong. I am 30 min into yoga and the administrative staff pulls me from my class to very disrespectfully say I am breaking their rules of bringing children that are not biologically mine and that I must get my kids and leave. I tried to explain that I wasn't intentionally breaking any rules, that I called ahead and that was the information I was given and that the other employees did not say it was against the rules either, so his staff may need to be informed of this "rule". I had to re-enter the middle of class and clean up all of my supplies while trying not to disturb anyone else, and it was completely embarrassing. Upon picking up my kids in the Child Watch, I see a friend and her kids--along with another child who is not hers, leaving the gym and they said they come frequently and have never been told that. The administrative staff then tells me I still have to pay for the class I was not allowed to finish and for the child watch my kids are not allowed to be in. I felt everything this far was already completely dealt with wrongly, and now I am forced to pay too? I had a friend with me too...they did not even ask for her to pay for her class at all. We felt it's because they were singling me out because I "broke" their child care rule. It seems they pick and choose which rules to follow and which are ok to break, how is anyone supposed to know what the rules are? The front desk and child watch employees didn't even know. But there was NO need to be so disrespectful, I gladly and respectfully would have had no issues not bringing the extra kiddos in the future. Now we won't be back at all.

Two stars because if you have your AARP card it's an old folks wonderland. I'm so happy there is a place for seniors to go and to exercise, but please let's not call this a "gym", let alone a "family gym" if your entire focus is the geriatric population. If you're looking to swim, cardio or blantantly stare at people while they workout due to the track that runs in the middle of the floor then this is the place for you. If you actually want to lift weights or use equipment...well be prepared to feel like you're always two inches away from someone and be denied by the staff to use equipment even when there isn't a class in session. The mats you put on the floor aren't even hung up and are just tossed behind the equipment. The child care is nice but it's extra on top of your membership fee. Some of the staff can come off condescending especially when asking about using alternative equipment or asking if they can invest in other equipment. Childcare is the only reason I have my membership and it will be ending as soon as there is another alternative.

The classes I took were ok but honestly it wasn't worth dealing with the rude women at the front desk. Between lying to me when I signed up and telling me that I couldn't sign up for the $60 a month non-member plan for classes...she made me pull it up on my phone from the website and then still wanted to argue with me that I had to sign up to be a member...to the women who yelled at me for walking in to take classes and yelling at me to scan a tag (I wasn't given a tag or a card or a contract...and I didn't even have to sign a waiver - first gym ever that didn't make me sign a waiver!). It's just not worth it to be yelled at every time you come in to take a class.

How can YMCA claim to be a non profit organization but charge out the ringer for membership that's a declaration of asking a profit anybody that charges someone to do anything in a organization or membership is a profit organization
