I was blessed to be asked to participate in this years performance of The Nutcracker as Clara's mom. As a trained actress, dancer and teacher myself... I was blown away with the attention to detail, organization and dedication of Northern Michigan Dance Academy! It is apparent that Katie and her staff have a passion for classical ballet, and it shows with the technique that each girl exhibits. This dance studio is not your typical studio focused on competitions- rather the focus is on raising up young women in the correct technique with classical ballet, while instilling confidence and camaraderie between all the dancers at the studio! Katie has a talent for wanting the best in her dancers.... and it shows! Highly recommend (I would send my children here if I lived closer!)

The dance studio gives off a warm community vibe where the older ballerinas help out the younger ballerinas & act as positive role models. I assumed that all dance studios would feel like an assembly line of children passing through the doors as the owner holds out their money collecting jar....Northern Michigan Dance Academy is the opposite of that. The instructors are knowledgeable & good at what they do & it’s character is top notch.

I have two daughters that attend NMDA (Petites and Demi I) and could not be happier with our experience. There is a true community feel you get being a part of the academy. I have observed amazing bonds and friendships formed amongst both dancers and parents within the NMDA family. I love that all dancers are invited to be involved in the theater performances, regardless of age. The level of professionalism and quality of the productions put on by NMDA are remarkable and add so much enrichment to the arts and culture offered in our community.

My daughter has danced at this studio for a few years and has loved it. There is a gentle kindness to the environment and she loves the way the classes are organized. She enjoys the productions and it is wonderful to see the performances they put on for the community. They put their heart into all they do.
