The people that I have met at Musical Life Denver have all been such a pleasure to get to know and learn from. Meghan is an amazing teacher and really engages during lessons. She truly takes interest in developing other people and is fun to work with. Robbie is a sincerely nice and genuine man who clearly loves to share the gift of learning and developing musically. There are so many cool people who participate in the Sunday night adult jam sessions as well.

I have young kids, and last spring I decided I needed a hobby that didn’t involve work or kid events. So I signed up for adult rock band on a whim, and believe me, no one saw this coming 🙂. My qualifications going in were singing in the car, having self-taught basic piano skills, and playing the flute in high school (and not picking it up since).

I’ll be real – I got nervous and considered quitting before the first rehearsal. But I showed up – and can’t be more happy I did. The program is amazing – not only are the other bandmates AWESOME, but Nick and Robby really make it structured, positive, and supportive. I’m realizing that I not only love playing, but I listen to and appreciate music completely differently now.

I also need to shout out Robby for being an incredible teacher. I’ve been doing piano lessons with him, and despite lessons feeling completely casual, the amount I learn in 30 minutes is unreal.

So to summarize, if you’re even slightly considering it, do it.

This place is more than just a school, it’s a community. I’m an adult, getting back into music after a long time away and I don’t think I’ve ever had such a good experience. Robbie is awesome, and everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing place not just for kids, but for anyone who is interested in getting into music.

Have you ever thought you might like to perform onstage with a band? DO IT HERE! Have you ever thought about taking instrument lessons from a pro? THESE GUYS HAVE YOU COVERED. What about just jamming with people, either to maintain your skills or push yourself harder to play with other people? YUP, THEY HAVE THAT TOO.

I cannot say enough great things about this school. I showed up for a jam one time and ended up the next week signing up for Adult Performance Band. It has literally changed my life in the most amazing way. I've done 4 performance band sessions now (and feel like a rock star doing it), have met the most amazing, talented and supportive people, have had the opportunity to sing, play guitar, bass, harmonica, and even a little piano. And I've had the chance to help and support others as we prepare for our shows. I have now joined 2 other bands professionally (we do get paid a little bit, lol), play at open mics from time to time, and have even started writing my own music with the goal of performing more. I love it.

I don't think any of my current trajectory would have happened without Musical Life Denver and their top-notch instructors and staff. This place is amazing.

Signing up for MLD was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I moved to Denver two years ago, not knowing a soul. I figured I’d give adult band a try after a long hiatus from playing guitar. I got so much more out of this experience than I expected.

I was a little nervous joining the band, because I’m an entirely self-taught acoustic guitar and ukulele player. I was a private player; I had played and sang in front of maybe 2-3 people in my life. I wasn’t sure how much performance anxiety would hinder me, but my confidence slowly grew over several months. I surprised myself by how much I enjoyed playing and singing in front of a large crowd (a friendly and supportive one!) at the end of it.

I’ve taken a lesson from every one of the teachers there, and they’ve all been fantastic. Robby (the owner) does a great job of bringing together the most skilled and patient teachers that really seem to enjoy their job. I took a few classes outside of the MLD program in the past year, and the quality of instruction just wasn’t at the level provided by the MLD crew. Most importantly, the MLD crew ensures that every lesson and band practice is hella fun!

The best part of the MLD experience has been the friendships I’ve made. It can be challenging even finding one good new friend in your thirties, let alone a group of them. After a couple semesters of MLD, I’ve made about 10 quality friends, ages ranging from 20s-70s, and I feel more connected than I’ve felt in my entire adult life. There are few experiences that bring people together quite like playing music with others. So stop struggling to make quality friendships online, and come meet people organically!

I've improved my playing more in the last 9 months than in the last 9 years and I'm having a great time doing it. Robbie and Nick are awesome. Everyone in the group supports one another. The thrill of performing on stage is unforgettable. Couldn't recommend it more. If you want to get out there and start playing, this is the place to start.

Really enjoy coming here for the blues bootcamp and jams. It’s a great way to practice with other musicians and grow your skills.

Robby and all the teachers are wonderful! My daughter loves being able to explore different instruments and had a blast at summer camp too!
