Not a great place for kids, no real food options nearby and terribly filthy facilities. My kids thought the bathrooms were an old prison :-/ beach is all rocks and water is shallow and all seaweed. Great if you want to sit on a chair and look at boats.

Beautiful sunsets and capabilities of finding wildlife. Explore through old seashells in the winter because the tide is at its all time low of the year. Find a horseshoe crab shell lying on the washed up seaweed shores. Find yourself asking, when was there ever that color on a shell, a stone, a bundle of seaweed. Take that curious toddler in snow pants out to grandparents beach houses and watch them explore the shores with their little foot prints littering the beach.

We only come here to go to the public beach, so my comments only refer to this. My family has lived on the Cape for almost 40 years. I came here as a kid and this is one of my favorite places to take my kids for some fun and sun. It isn't terribly crowded like some other beaches in the area, in part because you need a town sticker to park. But there is plenty of beach for everyone. The sand is not the best - it has a few too many rocks - but it's perfect for building sand castles. There is a swim dock not far from shore off which to dive and there is a roped area close to shore for the less experienced swimmers. There is also a volleyball net set up if you want to have a game with friends. Lifeguards are on duty seven days a week so you do feel safe there with your kids. About the only thing it doesn't have is a snack shack, so be sure to bring your own food and drink.

Great small beach with shallow water close to beach for little kids. No big waves and beautiful scenery because of the marina and the boats moored out in the bay.
