It is hard to put into words how amazing Lynn and Jen’s dance studio is. It is bar far the best dance studio in the area. We travel from Newton for classes. Students travel from many towns to take classes there; Billerica, Burlington, Belmont, Waltham, Cambridge, Wakefield, and those are just the ones I know of. The dedicated and caring teachers at Lynn and Jen’s Dance Studio prioritize the well-being and growth of the kids. With offerings in both recreational and competitive dance. They strike the perfect balance between real technique coupled with injury prevention and most of all fun! This studio is truly exceptional and will provide an enriching dance experience for your child. For some reason it seems they have a bit of a reputation of being a strict dance studio and you should not attend if doing recreational classes. I can attest this is can not be further from the truth. I have two children who do recreational and a child who does competitive. Each child gets the same attention and proper technique. It is not a ballet only studio. In addition to ballet, they offer Jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, modern, acrobatics, technique I am sure I am not mentioning everything they offer.

The studio is the only one in town asked to perform each year during town day. They create a special performance every year for their spooky walk. They also perform at Move for the movement a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society. The best part is that the kids are supportive of each other. The teachers foster a supportive environment for every dancer.

If you are hesitating even a bit to send your child or take classes there go check out the recitals of the local studios or ask to watch a video form each studio. The unparalleled results of an amazing show couples with the smiles on the children’s faces speak for themselves:

I take the adult classes. They are a ball! The instructors are fun, energetic and creative. I can be in a horrible mood once I step into the class everything changes. It is the most amazing “me” time that I have as a mom of three.

When deciding where to spend my money I did not want a studio that did more “dance party babysitting” than dance. I checked out over ten dance studios for my children before deciding this was the place for us. Check them out you certainly won’t regret it!

It's just not the place to teach kids to love dance. It's a paint by numbers studio. They tell the kids what to do (sometimes yell at them) and then repeat the same steps over and over, week after week. When my child struggled remembering some of the steps, they wouldn't help her. They told her to practice but she didn't remember the steps at home either. She was very frustrated. It was very hard to communicate with the teachers and they didn't want to help. There's also a mean girls culture where kids form groups and pick on some of the other kids. Apparently, this isn't discouraged because it went on the entire year. If your kid is super in to dance, this may be the right fit. Otherwise, stay away if you don't want your kid to hate dance forever.
