What a joke. We ended up withdrawing our child after only a 9 weeks of going here. The art department is full of those "I couldn't make it as a real artist, so I'm begrudgingly teaching children while either hating my life or thinking I'm way more important than I am." Nevermind the fact that this is an art magnet and they are teaching these children basic art concepts we were taught in ordinary school years ago and acting like they're helping to harness these kids' talents. Our child learned more from their Outschool online class in one month than they did at Lavilla in person. I thought they would work with each student individually to help them improve their talent. Instead this is where creativity and inspiration go to die with boring assignments that the teachers scoff at the students if theyre asked for help. Since we changed schools, our child is so much happier and their art has been blossoming. I'm just sad to see yet another Duval county school taking our taxpayers money for this rip off. I guess they spent it all into their cafeteria (with assigned seating btw) and couldn't afford a decent curriculum or staff or schools supplies. Since we paid 90$ for art supplies that essentially just went to the teacher since we withdrew our student. We feel bamboozled by this school, as it's not what it advertises. It's just another low rent Duval county school just with some cheap make up and a designer dress it bought on clearance. Just goes to show, doesn't matter how much you try to dress it up, trash is still trash.

Worst school experience ever. Specially the Dance Department. The school itself has plenty of nice music and art programs, but many of the students are very uneducated, disrespectfull and racist. Dean is a wonderfull person and he tryes his best, but looks like they dont have enough tools to straighten this place. Dancers are selfish, arrogant and unfriendly, not willing to help but ready to push you to the floor. No fellowship on that place, except for a few all of the same color. Ethnic hate students are also present. Discrimination, hostility and social rejection. There is no thing as an anti Bullying Program or Politics as they said. Just a few reports and a scolding, with little or no effect. My Daughter have to go now for 1 year of therapies and she will never be the same sweet girl again after 1 year of continuos bullying and social rejection. She lost her smile on her face from such enourmous deception. I will never forgive this place what they've done to my daughter.

The talent is overflowing at this school the performances are definitely worth the price of admission. This is a top notch school in the area. Even though it is a public school there are expenses involved so please be prepared for the financial commitment so that your child can get the full experience. The BEST middle school in town!!

This is a creative and high-quality teaching institution that specializes in kids pursuing a passion for the arts. Teachers and staff are mostly dedicated and caring. Self learners do best since the school itself is not always as well organized as one might hope. but that seems fairly normal within the Duval school system, although it could also represent the learning curve of a new principal who deserves a chance to make her mark.

The school overall is ok it’s jus some teachers need to learn how to respect kids. most of the teachers at lavilla don’t teach and wonder why we get low test scores or don’t have the best grades for example if I started giving in the amount of effort most of the teachers at lavilla give I’d have all f’s but some teachers do care about the kids that go there and those teachers should be recognized, this school it’s not the best but it’s also not the worst some teachers just need to recognize how there making students feel and realize how there holding us back by not teaching but yea the arts area teachers are good it’s just some of the academic teaches need to work on how they teach kids.

It got 3 stars because last year it was my 6th grade year and it was fun. We also had Ms Knight. She decides she wanna leave and we got Ms Harrison now. Worst decision of her life. Not to mention that in 7th grade these teachers wanna come for our necks. Have a seat bro. And they switch teachers faster than they change their draws. I’m only here for vocal at this point. Not to mention these new rules that came out of no where. If I’m late because of a car issue how is that my fault. You want me to teleport or something?! If I’m late I’m just staying home. Now I’ll miss a whole day instead of one period. I’m not getting lunch detention for something I can’t control. Also I get the whole id thing for safety but now you’re over doing it in my opinion. Also some these teachers want me to teach myself. Does it look like I have a degree?!!!!!! Do your job. SMH!!!!!

Great school! The teachers care about their kids and push them to be the best they can be. However today, I didn’t feel well so I went to the nurses office. I just needed some Advil, but ms cruise said, “I’m not taking anyone for the rest of the day” this was around 1:15. In my opinion, if students are in pain or need help, they should be open to help anyone at anytime. But again, this is an amazing school!
