I am a professional comedian and I use Laughing Buddha Comedy open mics to develop new material. It has been a great experience for me and the 1 person bringer shows are also a great way to sharpen my skills when I have a hole in my calendar. The crowds are very good for these shows and they are very well run...
My only wish is that they offered me a guest set once in awhile since I am an established act but I'm sure they will at some point.... I highly recommend them for aspiring comedians and even people looking for something to do in NYC as they are a fun night out!!

I’ve been performing with Laughing Buddha (mics, showcases, spots won) and always have a good experience. The mics are organized, yet typical. People do show up, but often leave, but that’s no fault of LB. They encourage people to stay and sometimes raffle off free mics and swag. The bringer requirements are reasonable, but firm. Have gotten some good notes after sets. I’ve had many guests at their shows and they always have a great time.

I really love Laughing Buddha, both as a new comic starting out and as an audience member at their shows. As a new comic, I can confirm that their open mics are super consistent in being organized and creating supportive spaces for new comics. For example, they encourage comics to stay at the open mics to watch everyone’s set, and the hosts are always funny and personable. As an audience member, their shows are very well produced with a mixture of new and established comics. I recently won a “Buddha Battle” and got the opportunity to guest spot in several of their shows and see all of this for myself, even receiving really thoughtful and helpful feedback from the staff and show producers.

I noticed nearly all of the negative reviews are from people who decided to Google the Laughing Buddha main office for a show location, instead of reading the location information on their ticket. For people who have actually attended a show, or participated as a comic, you’ll notice the experience is always a great one. None of my friends have ever had issues figuring out where to show up when they come to see me — but maybe it’s because they know how to read, I dunno.

As a comic i love Laughing Buddah for their great mics and high energy shows. Lots of great venues and a wide variety of mics and shows for you to choose from. Their team is quick to respond to any questions or concerns you may have. They have been an incredible help in getting my comedy career going and i cant recommend them enough. Come to show! Laughing Buddha is the only way beginner comics can play great rooms at awesome time slots. Open mics that make you pay to do a Tuesday at 5pm for a bunch of other comics with their heads in their notebooks are the worst. Bringer shows are always a hustle, but at least once you rally the troops, you're on stage at a great venue with great people. And Daryn is a killer showrunner; funny, organized, warm, and kind.

I know some people have been complaining about getting tickets and going to the wrong venue. I haven’t been to the Laughing Buddha in some time but they are the best. I’ve been there for shows and did stand up once myself there. The staff and ownership take great pride in giving their paying customers the best experience possible. They know how hard people work for their money and they are genuinely so appreciative to anyone who buys a ticket to their venue.
I’d love to actually come back and see a show and maybe even get up on stage again there if they would have me. Laughing Buddha all day!!!!
