Joining Kimball Studio was one of the best things I did for myself in all my years living in NYC. The teachers have such deep respect for actors and are incredibly supportive of as us humans in addition to the incredible technique work of acting on camera.The students are also the most supportive group of actors I've found at any studio and genuinely root for each other. Coming from a theatrical background, this studio has given me the confidence and taught me such invaluable tools to hold my own in front of a camera. Lastly, they're super accommodating when it comes to scheduling with a great make up policy so you don't stress if you have to miss a class. If you're considering joining this studio, DO IT. You can come for me if you're unhappy (but you won't be).

I have been taking classes at Kimball Studio for years. If you’re an actor committed to growing or are just beginning and want to learn everything you need to know, I’d be doing a disservice to you by saying anything less than—you are so lucky to have found it. As a fellow new to the studio classmate said to me recently, “I’m so grateful to have found this place, I just wish I had found it sooner.” Kimball Studio is for the serious actor committed to growing and learning some serious on-camera chops that will get you noticed in the room as a professional. Thanks to the studio I have learned so much over the years that have led me to build relationships with casting directors and book roles. The On-Camera class taught me everything about technique, how to tackle tricky sides, while also learning what really works for me and what my strengths are while working on my weaknesses or getting rid of habits that do not work on screen. The Scene Study class was incredible for building confidence to show up on set and working that muscle of delivering lines with some complicated blocking—everything from performing surgery in a hospital to surveilling multiple rooms with gun in hand in search of a terrorist. Ballistics is the Improv class that keeps me on my toes after years and makes me discover more and more about myself and our wonderful craft. It is terrifying (in the best way) and thrilling and makes you so quick to think on your feet that you learn to be a master of taking direction. It also constantly reminds me about the fun and wonder of the craft. I’d be lost without it. What I love also is that if you need help with launching your career, advice, self-tapes, meeting casting directors, the studio covers all aspects of the business. What sets Kimball Studio apart? The people. The coaches—Kelly, Janine, Julia—are brilliant and bring their passion, professionalism, experience and make their notes personal to you and where you are so that you know that they genuinely want to see you grow. It’s all shared with kindness and grace. As for the colleagues, I have rarely encountered such an incredible group of committed artists that are open, warm, kind and selfless. There’s a supportive energy that is incredible and it not only helps you grow as a person and artist but also makes working off of each other a gift. You feel that everyone is rooting for you. Is this studio for everyone? No. If the idea of a supportive space to commit and grow as an artist doesn’t sound appealing, it’s probably not for you. If you’re a serious actor looking for growth and a place for your best self to shine through, you’re going to be as grateful as I am to call it your home.
