I have to say this is a GREAT experience. The skills that I developed here can be used in many other parts of my life. The cost is a great deal for all you get. I had the privilege of meeting a few instructors, not just one. They are all warm, out going, fun, professional people. These are the people with whom I'd like to stay in contact.

Finally, this is NOT easy. Even though you are learning to "Play Games", there are some rules/guidelines that must be learned, followed and applied. The best part is that they are practical to everyday life as well.

This school has been great to me. In the past I took drop in class just around as I felt like it. After taking levels 1 and 2 here it's clear what a difference true curriculum and instructors are! There's incredible talent in the staff, and a lot of thought and history in the lessons.

Level 1 works without assumptions. It lays out strict rules and heavily formatted games to help learn how to think. A perfect set of training wheels to get moving.

Level 2 takes much of those off, but leaves you with some guard rails. Way more room to break the rules a bit, try things, but still feel coached. Emphasis on character in Groundlings style is ramped way up.

The opportunity to perform in a low pressure show at the end of every level is a huge benefit! Don't get me wrong, it's awful the week before, but the chance to really get out there and test yourself is priceless! Going as a group for drinks and food after as a tradition really layers on how this group feels. It's a tight knit, welcoming bunch.

Strongly recommend! I started taking classes here with zero experience in improv or acting/performing, basically on a dare to myself to do something I would certainly be horrible at. I was nervous to sign up. And I found the classes to be accessible and very fun.

I've taken the intro and Level 1 classes. They ease you into some fundamentals of improv, with group exercises that help you practice listening, rhythm, and relaxing the self-conscious part of your brain that can get in the way of playfulness. The curriculum builds from there to simple games that help you discover ways to create characters and short scenes. In this "character-based improv" there isn't any pressure to find a punch line or be quick-witted. It's more about building a strong character and interacting with your scene partners in playful ways.

Some things I have really appreciated about Improvolution:
* The teachers are great. They do a very good job of creating a learning environment that feels safe and accepting. And their coaching/instruction is really expert and helpful.
* The curriculum is very well structured.
* Improvolution seems to see itself as a community in addition to a school/business. It's a very friendly place.
* It's very fun.

Highly recommend this! We booked 1.5hrs of Improv training as part of our first team building event and everyone loved it! Sarah and her team was super curious and open to our team's needs and made customized program for the day. It was really a perfect mix of team bonding, fun, and learning; our biggest takeaways are seeing the team as one, Yes and mentality, trusting your instincts; at the end of the session, we really felt more connected as a team and feel confident about using all the tools in our future collaboration. Would recommend this to any team looking to build more connections 🙂

I had so much fun at an Improvolution "From Stuck to Productive" session last week Saturday! The instruction, participants and space all contributed to this result. I experienced community and shifted from overthinking to surrendering to the moment, and now, I'm hooked!

Improvolution is awesome! I hired them to do a corporate workshop at my company, and they hit it out of the park. Everyone had so much fun, and it was a great teambuilding exercise, way to develop public speaking skills and build confidence. Mallory and Holly are great instructors.
