We absolutely love Guitar Shed! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes learning music such a joy. My two children (10 and 7) take piano lessons with Maria, and we couldn’t ask for a better teacher.

Maria is incredibly patient, encouraging, and skilled at making lessons both engaging and educational. She knows how to meet each child where they are, fostering their love for music while helping them build confidence and technique. She brings such positivity to every lesson, and my kids always leave excited to practice and eager to return.

The team at Guitar Shed is fantastic—organized, friendly, and truly passionate about music education. If you’re looking for a music school that nurtures young musicians in a fun and supportive environment, Guitar Shed is the place to be!

I have taken guitar, piano, and vocal lessons from Guitar Shed since it first opened. Of the 5 instructors I have had, 3 of them are still there - Brandon, Parker, and Maria. They are all great. One of the best aspects of Guitar Shed is the performance opportunities and the community of people I have met there to attend open mics and concerts with.

Most recently, I have been taking voice lessons from Maria for several years. She consistently finds new techniques to push me out of my comfort zone. Every lesson, I feel like I learn something new about my voice and every part of my body that goes into singing. Aside from weekly lessons, she has also helped me in the studio when recording vocal takes for original songs.

I enrolled in lessons as someone who had taught myself guitar years ago. Micah helped me move beyond memorizing chords or tabs to actually understanding how to navigate across the fretboard, and even improvise over backing tracks. He's a great teacher for anyone who wants to refine their guitar playing while also learning about music theory and expanding their musical horizons. I've gotten a lot out of those guitar lessons, and it's helped me significantly improve my guitar playing.

I had a fantastic experience at The Guitar Shed! When I had my first lesson, I had never held a guitar in my life but I was determined to play a song at my upcoming wedding. My instructor, Micah, is the best! With patience, insight and incredible musical talent, he was able to get me to the point where I did successfully play a song for my new husband at our wedding. Micah taught me about musical theory and, on occasion, peeled me off the ceiling when I was ready to throw my guitar in the trash. I have since moved out of state, but would highly recommend The Guitar Shed (and Micah) to anyone who wants to pick up the instrument.

We love the Guitar Shed and have had our kids taking lessons there for years! Mateo makes music FUN for our 3rd grade boy, and Nichelle is an inspiration to our 5th grade daughter! Both of our kids also loved Vivian -- we have only had good teachers and a positive experience here!

My kids have been taking various music lessons through Guitar Shed for over 5 years. It is a warm and welcoming community with friendly and talented teachers. Vivian Slade has taught my daughter guitar and voice, giving her a safe space to explore music and discover her talents. Vivian is supportive and encouraging, finding just the right pace for my daughter to learn and grow. My son is currently taking lessons with Chris Case, who has created an engaging combination for my son’s learning by teaching him music theory, improvisation and many musical styles through piano, staying attuned to my son’s interest and abilities. My son is also in one of the teen bands with Sean McMorris, who guides the band beautifully through the collaboration of each young musician. He allows their artistry to come through, while guiding them to work together as a collective. I am so grateful for all my kids have learned through their experiences at Guitar Shed.

I decided to treat myself to voice lessons as an adult, and I am so glad to have found Guitar Shed! I spent one year almost exactly taking voice with Maria before "graduating" and joining a high caliber chorus here in Atlanta.

Guitar Shed is very well run by a committed, professional, engaged staff. Manager/teacher Brandon is warm & helpful. Founder/owner Parker has become someone that I have come to respect and admire as an Atlanta business owner.

And to speak specifically about my experience working with Maria: Maria’s years as a performer give her a deep knowledge of the anatomy & physiology of the voice, and that is an incredibly valuable part of what she passes along to her students. More importantly though, Maria’s warm & encouraging teaching style gave me, an adult learner in my thirties, the skills and confidence to begin to identify as a musician for the first time in years.

Coming to Guitar Shed as an adult learner meant I was really steering the ship as to what I would learn, and what I wanted to achieve with my musicianship. There was no curriculum or course plan that we followed, so it was up to me to set my own goals & ask a lot of questions. I can see how that might be unmooring for some learners, but open-endedness & imprecision suit me really well. I feel grateful to have Guitar Shed here in town, and may even drop in for future instrument lessons some day.

I've taken lessons at guitar shed for about two years. My banjo teacher, Max Godfrey did such a great job teaching me techniques and helping me explore the music I was interested in while introducing me to things I hadn't been interested in before. I really appreciate the welcoming and encouraging environment created by the staff.
