Just removed my kids from school because of bullying. They have no control over the middle school building and have a no tolerance policy for bullying which is not being enforced. They put not effort into my situation just said come pick up the kids since I was looking into transferring my 5 students didn't even give me a chance to find a new school and enroll my children. What's a shame right? But the big group of bullying get to stay comfortably. Parents be aware

This schools admin has a Hugh communication issue..it's like they don't understand yall have people kids not the parents. The teachers aren't there to help when your kids starts doing kid stuff they just say o well and let your child fail then when it's to late they wanna say I tried to talk to the child..but they never reach out the parents this school was the worst mistake of my life i am definitely on the list for virtual after Christmas don't send your child here.

Throughout the 7+ years I’ve attended this school, I can honestly say I hate this school with a passion. They’re INFESTED with bedbugs, Some teachers don’t know how to control their class which leads to students having their time being wasted because a teacher is busy attempting to calm down a class. The lunch is trash, but at least it’s free. This school is very unorganized and doesn’t know how to get information to parents and students correctly which leads to alot of confusion.The bathroom is NASTY, they try to hide the fact that their bathrooms aren’t clean by “cleaning” them once in a while but after a few months of school they become dirty and stinky again. They give horrible students with bad behavior chance after chance, and don’t do anything but suspend them when they should be trying to get rid of them completely so kids who want to learn can. And lastly the environment of this school will definitely leave a bad influence on your child. Kids cuss up a storm and are always fighting. This isn’t even the half of it, there is so many more things I can say about this school but this review would be an entire essay. If you want better for your child, I’M TELLING YOU DON’T SEND THEM HERE! I can honestly say public schools are better than this.

I give this school a 1 star rating because....
1. there is always drama. A fight breaks out every day !
2. The school has bed bugs ! there have been three incidents where a bed bug was spotted twice in one year !
3. the staffing isn’t well at all. The principals hire bad teachers. some of them can’t control their classes nor teach !
those aren’t even half the reasons but I’m fine with this because I’m leaving daas ASAP! I do not recommend this school !

this school worry about all the wrong things! it’s fights going on almost everyday and they worried about people having on purses and hoodies. one of the ladies who work here jumped on a student over a phone! and if your parent wants to contact you they cannot because of the staff they want to ban phones because all they care about is making the school look good when in reality it’s not at all and also they force you to take your hoodies off the building is literally freezing heat does not work at all and if it does they never cut it on they leave us in here to freeze.

I think the school is a wonderful institution of education for children. The staff their is a group of exceptionally talented, loving and unconditional giving people our young people could ever encounter. The patient and passion they have for the job they do is just truly amazing and I want my grandchildren to become students at this school of excellence. I will be seeing you all in the fall. DO NOT send your kids to this school. As a student, i believe this school is filled with a bunch of staff who don’t care. Reason 1, if you’re a parent and you have to get in contact with your child after school, you can’t. The middle school principal banned all phones, students can’t even have phones on the premises. Once, i witnessed a male teacher go through a girl’s purse to her edge control out. Would you like a grown man going through your daughter’s belongings? Reason 2, staff members (teachers specifically) don’t know how to teach kids, or control them. The teachers cuss under their breath and talk about students. Also, this school is infested with bedbugs. Lots and lots of bullying goes on and the teachers have 1 meeting with the kids and pretend that a 3-day suspension and phone call home stops bullying. It doesn’t! The school lunch isn’t great at all. Lunch ladies have attitudes when we go up to get our tray and we look at it any type of way. Once, i’ve gotten a COLD patty, and pink chicken. Teachers taunt the kids, and then call home when they retaliate.

I feel that this is not a great school but if you are in the inner city of Detroit it is one of your best options. Now, con's for placing your child in DAAS is the parking, the teachers do not communicate well " NOT ALL BUT SOME" (we expect a update everyday, now this may not bother you!) I felt that the focused too much on the music class, than they did any other class. The students that attend DAAS are from some ruff neighborhoods and they can influence your child that may not be exposed to things such as sex, drugs, and malevolent influence music. The kids seem to have a lot of free time epically on Fridays when school is dismissed at 1:30pm, the school claims that cutting some breaks short and making the school year longer makes up for the hours and I agree, but they are not learning.
