I am not someone who writes reviews for anything, but I have enjoyed my time here the past 7 months so much that I just couldn't help but write an extensive review. I originally attended just for fun and wasn't sure if I would stick around very long because I was going through a rough period in my life and didn't feel like doing much of anything, but I quickly came to really enjoy going here weekly and have been attending almost every week for 7 months straight. There is no better place to attend no matter what your current skill level is or whether or not you take art very seriously or just like to do it as a hobby. The environment is always very friendly, supportive and fun with Tom De Vita as the instructor. He's always making funny jokes to lighten the mood, supplies free snacks and drinks, and is endlessly qualified and capable when it comes to helping you when you get stuck and helping you improve immensely as an artist. He has all kinds of tools and tricks up his sleeve to teach you that you will be able to use to create better works of art very effectively. He is a really great teacher because he explains the full scope of everything that goes into creating art, he is honest but never harsh with his feedback, and he's very good at helping you understand how to improve and refine your work. My only regret with this academy is not attending sooner because it has helped me find a new path forward in my life that I find incredibly fun and fulfilling, but I am grateful to have started when I did. Attending these classes has been one of the best decisions I ever made and is worth every penny. I will forever be grateful to Tom for his incredible guidance, commitment to his students, and his enjoyable presence. If you are someone considering going here, I'm sure you will feel the same as I and countless others do for this outstanding academy if you give it a chance.

Attending De Vita Art Academy has completely transformed my life—and I'm not just talking about my painting skills! Since I started taking classes with the legendary Tom De Vita, my entire family finally treats me like the artist I knew I was. First of all, the classes themselves are incredible. Tom's teaching style is warm, funny, and so patient that even I managed to make art without creating something that just looks like spaghetti on a canvas.

My wife used to roll her eyes every time I mentioned wanting to learn to paint, but now that I'm under Tom’s artistic wing, she’s letting me sleep in the same bed again! And my daughter, who used to conveniently “forget” I exist in public, now proudly introduces me as her “artist dad” (I’m not crying, you’re crying). Even our dog seems to look at me differently!

Plus, the small class size is perfect. Tom keeps it so intimate that I’ve made actual progress every class, rather than hiding in the back like I did in high school art. If you’re considering art classes, run, don’t walk, to De Vita Academy. Who knows? Maybe you’ll earn back your family’s respect, too!

My daughter and I have been attending this art academy for about two years, and it’s truly been a fantastic experience! The ambiance is incredibly relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and get creative. The professors, who are also the owners, bring so much passion, knowledge, and warmth to every class. Their guidance and support have truly enhanced our skills and keep us excited to return each week. This academy has been an amazing find, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore their creativity in a welcoming and inspiring environment!

This is my favorite art school ever!! I have taken classes from others in Broward County, but this is by far the best place yet. Tom provides exceptional, personalized attention to each artist in his class. Even though I have been painting for several years, my skills have become more and more elevated after each class I take with Tom. Although I started taking Tom’s courses as a hobby, I have witnessed Tom and Lynda help numerous students obtain goals for themselves that they never thought were obtainable. They truly both have huge hearts and it shows in how they spend an enormous amount of time helping their students grow and expand their skills. Tom is an excellent teacher and provides tailored advice on how to take your skills to the next level. He truly cares about his students and creates a judge-free zone for people to learn and practice perfecting their skills. Tom keeps the classes light-hearted, care free and always welcoming. The classes are small and intimate so it gives you a chance to relax and take your time on the piece you are working on. They provide coffee and a huge selection of snacks to make for an even more comfortable and welcoming space. Not only are these courses affordable, but the skills you can gain are priceless!! I have included photos of some of my paintings to show you just how much he has taught me.

The best Art class in Broward. The studio is full of insparing pantins from the teacher, Tom, and from the students. There is a real teaching of drawing technics first, then you start painting in happy vibes, cool music with a very good coffee. You can even make friends. I am so happy to find this academy. My daughter attended the 8-11-year-old class. The academy helped her much; as such, she learned many new techniques in drawing and painting. Tom and Lynda are excellent teachers, and they are also very kind. I would give ten stars, but there are only five.

Tom is an amazing teacher and an award-winning artist. The classes are tiny (ignore the person who lied and said they are crowded - I've never seen more than 8 in a class, especially during COVID). After some beginning exercises, you get to pick whatever you want to paint.

I have never seen anyone leave with a bad painting. I don't even know how Tom does what he does, but he manages to coax the best out of every student. I've been going for three years now. I had never taken painting lessons before. I'm always surprised by how good my paintings look. My classmates have all created really excellent work.

Some of my fellow students are art teachers. Some are art students putting together portfolios. Most of us are just hobbyists. The classes are de-stressing and fun. They always go too fast, even though they are 3 hours.

I highly recommend these classes for anyone who has ever wanted to paint. I can't speak for the other classes, but there other types of art taught like sculpture and fashion design. The work I've seen from those students is really terrific too.

I'm no Monet, but I've included three photos of my work so you can see what to expect in the way of results. I had never done an oil painting in my life before joining the class. I had never had a painting lesson since 8th grade. If I can do it, you can do it.
