Dancespire is a dance community like no other I have ever experienced. The most welcoming, communally focused, insanely supportive, and inspiring place to take classes and focus on progressing in your dance career. It is always so much fun to take be here and spend time with this community, I look forward to being there each week. Everyone is encouraged to be themselves and are pushed each week to become the best dancer, and person, that they can be. So much knowledge here, about both dance and culture. I absolutely love it!

Dancespire has created an amazing community of people who all have one thing in common, their love of dance! If you’re in need of quality dance training in Grand Rapids, and you’re either too old or don’t have the time/money/desire to commit yourself, or your child, to a dance studio; If you desire to be in the presence of pretty awesome people in the process of learning and perfecting your dancing, then you should definitely check them out!

If you’re looking for a dance community to be apart of
this is the place to be! I had a fun time at Deavondres class and Jaspers class! I brought a friend who had no prior dance experience in or outside of a studio and was their first time taking a class, they also had a good time as well, for it being their first class they were definitely out of their comfort zone. But they really liked the way Deavondre taught and how he brought such a positive attitude/ environment for those who are new. So, thank you again for yet another amazing class!

Dancespire’s Drop In Wednesdays are a great way to causally train in different sub genres of hiphop dance, and sometimes they offer contemporary classes too! It’s also a great way to generally socialize and network within the local dance community. This class is not about being the perfect dancer or showing other people up. It’s about having fun, connecting with others through movement, and trying your best. One person’s best may not be the same level as someone else, and what someone takes away from the class may not be what someone else takes away from the class, and that’s okay! Drop In Wednesday is truly a beautiful environment to be in, thanks to the motivation and support the teachers provide. <3

I remember the first time I pulled up to my very first Drop in Wednesday class. I was physically shaking from nerves. I thought I would look so silly next to all these amazing hip hop dancers. What I found was a super welcoming and encouraging environment of people who go to class to learn and be apart of a community. Over the last six months of attending DIW, I’ve not only grown as a dancer, but I’ve learned much more about myself in the process. I’m so thankful for Deavondre and the atmosphere he’s created in class. Anyone can show up and feel welcomed, whether you’re a beginner or an advanced dancer. For me, DIW has become a release for me during the week. I couldn’t recommend it more!

As a trauma informed health coach, I help women learn to use conscious movement through dance and music as a tool for root cause healing. Dancespire is doing an incredible job of not only building a beautiful community open to anyone who wants use dance as a vehicle to connect to his or herself and others, but to rewire the body and mind for deeper healing. Even though it was my first class, I felt very welcomed at DIW amongst the more seasoned dancers who have been attending much longer. I would highly recommend Dancespire to anyone who wants to learn to dance.

I just moved to the city and was getting back into dancing after an injury, and DanceSpire welcomed me with open arms. Not only is Deavondre an amazing choreographer, but he offers a safe space for learning, growing, and acceptance. The other choreographers they bring in are extremely talented and offer a huge range of style and learning. Deavondre and the DanceSpire family create such an amazing environment, feeling judgement free, and radiates so much love for dance!

So glad there is a dance group like this out in GR that pushes you to be the best dancer you can be. Exactly what I was looking for to get back into it. Deavondre who heads the classes is super nice and hella knows his stuff. They also pick some great music to learn and dance to! Everyone is so inclusive especially as someone who just moved to the area. I can't say enough good things about this group of people. Definitely need to check them out!
