We have been studying violin with David Wolcott for a decade and absolutely love his approach to learning! His techniques work equally well for adults and children. He customizes his teaching to the students' needs and encourages us every step of the way. David will introduce you to easy tricks that facilitate mastery of the bow, the instrument, reading music, and playing.

David's professional experience also allows him to discuss performance opportunities with my child in a meaningful way. She gets excited about all the possibilities offered by learning an instrument --both personally and professionally.

My two daughters and I have taken violin lessons with David for the past six years. He’s a tremendously capable teacher with a deep well of pedagogical experience to draw from. He’s also very good at interacting with children of varying ages. More recently, my older daughter has started taking guitar lessons with Ben, who is also an excellent teacher—very enthusiastic and encouraging, with a quick eye to spot how to fix the kind of problems that hold a beginning student back.

My daughter has taken lessons here since just before age 4. I’m a violinist myself and have very high standards for quality teaching. I really appreciate that her teacher has been so thoughtful with a strong basis in technique, but has also kept it fun. It’s a very encouraging and loving environment. Recital opportunities are supportive and fun. It’s wonderful to see how my daughter has learned how steady practice and work can pay off—she is now (age 10) about to start in her first youth orchestra. We’ve worked with David Wolcott and his Dallas Suzuki Academy team for the past 12 years and have always had a wonderful experience with all teachers. The environment has always been very encouraging, fun, but also strong in bringing out more technical skills in all the students. Semester performances have always been great and I love seeing familiar faces and seeing other students develop so well in all instruments.

My 7yo has been with David for violin for two years and he’s helped her progress aggressively but in such a fun and positive way. She’s learning great techniques, loves the music she can play and enjoys him as an instructor. He makes the lessons well structured with a clear steps on homewoek and practice and in such a manner that she can follow quite well. David has been quite flexible and understanding with scheduling but also working well with little kids. Looking forward to more years with him!

My 16 yo has been working with Alyson Albarran in cello for the past 1.5 years and she has really escalated my daughter’s technical capability, something she could well assess as an improvement area but also has been allowing my daughter to express more with her other talents. Alyson has also been quite flexible with the schedule which has been helpful for my household.
