College Internship Program (CIP) Berkshire - Lee, Massachusetts

Our family includes a son on the Autism Spectrum. We wondered and worried what life would look like after he graduated from high school and transitioned into his young adult years. We attended a CIP information session and it seemed to check all of the boxes we were looking for--a residential setting, a small and inclusive program population, life skill workshops, social, professional, educational offerings, etc.--but would it actually deliver? After several years in the Berkshire program, which involved incredibly insightful coaching and respectful nurturing by the CIP staff, we- and, most importantly our son, would say absolutely! CIP embraced and honored our son allowing him to gain the skills and confidence to move forward with his life goals. In fact, he obtained an associate degree at a nearby college while at CIP and is applying for a four-year degree--thanks to CIP! Please give CIP a look; we were grateful that someone pointed us its way and want to do the same.

They will preach all about how every person with learning disabilities is different, and then fail to see the irony in putting them into a 'one size fits all' program of theirs.

It's all about putting on a nice face for the parents and convincing them their child needs another year back in their cookie cutter programs
