Took one class, and never again. Waste of money. Was 'allowed' to take Level 2 due to prior experience, but then was essentially bullied about it for weeks. Remarks about never taking her Level 1 class for WEEKS. Strangest thing. Yuck.

The only way to do things is her way, even though she is self-taught. Pacing is atrocious/ non-existent. She was always late. 3 of the 4 of us never finished our pieces! She then wanted us to spend another grip of cash on another class to then finish them...?

I could go on and on. But essentially, the worst instructor I've ever had anywhere for anything. Remember, this is supposed to be fun!

I have taken several beginning silversmithing classes at CCA and have loved them. I had NO EXPERIENCE in the world of jewelry making when I came to my first class. My teacher was Kathy Pritchett. She really knows how metals work and how students best learn to work with them. I have been amazed when I am working at home, how I seem to know what to do when I get stuck. What I am saying is that you will learn much more than just how to make a particular piece. She really welcomes you into the world of metalsmithing as an apprentice and shares many of the intricacies involved in whatever you are learning about. She knows her stuff and is able to communicate it well.

I have also taken silversmithing classes elsewhere. I am back at CCA, because I came to appreciate the high standard she expects of her students' work and the level of detail and care that is needed to make high quality pieces of art.
