As a musician myself, I can recognize and appreciate great music teachers, and Randy is definitely that! My 10 year old daughter has been taking lessons with him since February; she loves it and I think she’s grown immensely as a musician. We have been doing Zoom lessons, (ever since Covid,) and haven’t gone back to in-person lessons because Randy is a phenomenal teacher over Zoom. We just haven’t needed to! Also, it makes our schedule so much easier that he’s willing to teach lessons that way; he’s been very accommodating. Additionally, I’m so incredibly impressed with how he gets my daughter to focus for 30 entire minutes as well as how he can clearly convey specific violin techniques to her over the screen. She stays engaged in lessons because “it’s just fun with Randy,” and seems to do well with retaining the knowledge that she learns each time. It’s been a wonderful experience working with Randy and you and your child will be very happy if you get the chance to work with him!

As an adult with some musical background from grade school, I wanted to learn a new instrument, and landed on cello. It was a struggle transitioning from a different string instrument to Cello, but Anna has been incredible throughout the whole journey so far! She is incredibly patient and wants to teach anyone the love and enjoyment of cello! I would highly recommend her for anyone of any age the wants to learn cello!

Anna took me on as a beginning older adult cello student during Covid, with remote lessons by Google meet and Zoom. Anna lives 3 hours away from me. I could not find a local teacher to start with Suzuki style lessons, which I wanted because it had been my children's music education method. I cannot say enough about what a great teacher Anna is and how much I enjoy learning from her. Even via computer, Anna readily sees and corrects my body and hand positions, has a wealth of specific exercises and tips for playing, practicing, and also learning to read music. She teaches very effectively (even remotely). We have met in person for a class recital, which was low-key and fun. She had already created a sense of community among her students with a group chat where she welcomed new students and posted links to interesting cellist performances. Anna is creative, perceptive, very organized, and a great teacher! I'm so glad to be one of her students.

My 13 year old started violin lessons with Randy at the beginning of summer and I have been so impressed with how good he is with Ayla, who is very shy, introverted and has some social anxiety. Violin has really brought her out of her shell and she’s completely comfortable now going to lessons. I can see confidence building and now going into 8th grade orchestra (and not having played violin since 3rd grade) with summer lessons with Randy under our belt is a game changer. We’re going to continue through the school year as well! So worth it.

Aurora Institute for the Arts has given my 5 year-old son his first experiences as a musician. They've inspired me to grow my own interest in strings to become an adult beginner as well.
The business owners, a young couple whose energy and enthusiasm for music is evident, created, developed, and are the instructors for Aurora. The popularity of their business is growing and we feel fortunate to have been able to have a place in the community of beginning musicians they foster with their love of the arts.

Anna is a really creative teacher. My daughter responded really well to Anna's songs and games that introduced the cello parts as well as the first hand positions. She was also really fantastic about finding a cello in the area that would fit the size of my 7 year old well.
