Just want to take a minute to express my sincerest gratitude to the Kyle and the folks at Acton Autowerks. While speaking with Kyle on my first call to schedule the appointment, it became clear "these guys are experts and know what they're talking about ", I felt totally comfortable bringing my car in to get looked at by them, this after having been to 3 other places. After exchanging ideas about the diagnosis, Kyle went right to work on lining up the job with the parts and resources needed and going out of their way and working with us to make it happen so we could get our car back the following day, as we had hoped for, they delivered.
The facility impressive if you like cars like I do, it is extremely professional in all aspects, the environment is pleasant and clean and the abutting showroom is beautiful and comfortable. I would definately recommend Acton Autowerks to anyone with import car issues, hands down! This auto repair shop is amazing. It's the first time that I have ever felt comfortable dropping off my car (usually beg my husband to do it). Kyle and the team is knowledgeable, and they take the time to explain what is going on with my car!!!! Single and married ladies, I highly recommend this shop! Just had my car serviced by Acton Autowerks, they did a phenomenal job. My differential had a weird whine unfortunately it needed to be replaced but they were able to source one for me. Car is back on the road and loaded up with fresh fluids. Great job guys.

These guys are pros. I brought the team an old Beetle that supposedly was in good shape to find out that the engine had broken valves and was really struggling. Most air cooled guys in the area were too busy or had an attitude, so we got together and laid out a plan to get the Beetle to be mechanically solid by replacing the engine, transmission, converting it to disc brakes and sorting out the suspension. The guys couldn’t be more patient as I sourced the parts and were very fair as we planned, executed and they priced the work. Really looking forward to doing more work with them and clearly no job is too small or too big for them.

My experience with this business started out great but ended poorly, it saddens me to write this review because the guys who run the place are nice. I bought two cars from this business - a 2017 Mini Cooper JCW 2 door hardtop, and a 2016 Nissan 370Z NISMO. My purchasing experience both times was excellent- uncomplicated and, more importantly, fair. Their guys don't work on commission so it is a very low pressure environment, you either want the car or you don't and if it's still there when you make up your mind it's yours. That simple.

For the Mini, my experience with the shop was great. Carlos is a great mechanic.

The problems I experienced started after I traded in the Mini for the NISMO earlier this year. To begin with, the previous owner was located in Canada and had put anti glare fully up and down the windshield. Illegal in Massachusetts, but I only found out after bringing the car to get inspected. Had to bring it back to get the stuff removed and the car reeked for a while after. Should have been dealt with before selling. There is also window tint that is too dark, but I am going to make an effort to get an exemption for that because it helps with my photosensitivity. The car also needed a new set of rear tires at time of purchase, but they promised they would swap on a new set at no charge, so once the order came in less than a week later I brought it back and the new set was swapped on.

Now, I don't know what changed from last year to this year, but I also noticed a general downturn in responsiveness from the shop as the year went on. I went from easily being able to schedule needed services and ad hoc appointments for problems to needing to reach out multiple times just to get an answer/speak to someone. I live in Waltham so it's not a simple thing for me to get my car out to their location, but I tried my best to stay loyal because they had treated me well and I wanted to honor that by continuing to give them my business even though there were many mechanics in my area that were much closer. However, when I stopped getting any kind of response to some of my inquiries it was problematic.

There were a couple events recently that tipped me over the edge, to where I've taken my business elsewhere and don't have any plans to come back. The first was a conversation I had on the phone with a mechanic named Carl. I had never spoken to him before, but Carlos was busy so he stepped up willingly to assist me. The NISMO is RWD so I was looking to get snows put on it, we talked brands/measurements/pricing and he said he'd put together an estimate and send it my way, even confirmed my email address. He also was kind enough to answer some questions I had about dealing with a pretty large blind spot on the driver's side. Unfortunately a couple weeks went by and no estimate was ever sent to me. I might have followed up on it except for what happened next.

Around the time of the conversation with Carl, I started having problems with the air pressure in my tires. One week three of the four tires were more than 5 PSI down. A few weeks later, I noticed that one looked a bit flat. There was an air pump and a mechanic right across the street so I went to take care of it: once again three of four tires over 5 PSI under. This was a big pressure drop in such a short time frame, so I immediately popped over to the mechanic and asked if they could take a look. Next day I brought it back and they looked at the tires, what they told me actually shocked me.

The tires that were put on my car when I bought it were NOT a new set, they were not even at the 40% legal minimum in an auto sale in MA. There is NO way they could have been because what the mechanics discovered were tires that were only fit for NASCAR - zero tread. Flat. I bought the car in April, there is no way the tires had worn from even 40% to 0 in that time. They put junk tires on my car, and when I reached out, they pushed back claiming the tires were not the ones they put on despite me having photo evidence of before/after the tire swap. Tread with caution.

Went in to Acton Autowerks to change my engine mount that was cracked and the water pump and thermostat that was leaking . Kyle was a pleasure to deal with ! Very responsive and professional! I was looking for a local mechanic to take my car in that I would trust and I found it . Would highly recommend!
