If you have a foreign vehicle of any kind, I'd steer clear of Allen's. I used them many years ago and they were solid but I believe there are probably some training issues that need to be addressed now. My 2007 Toyota went in for an oil change and came out with a non-Toyota oil pan drain plug, without the seal gasket required for the bolt as well. Not sure what happened to my original drain plug, let alone the gasket needed to prevent fusing the plug to the pan... This resulted in the bolt nearly fusing to the oil pan and stripped the bolt. The oil filter was tightened with an oil filter wrench, which is a mechanics 101 no-no - these should always be firmly hand-tightened. This resulted in further damage to the oil pan, trying to remove rhe oil filter.

All this to say, steer far, far away from this place. You may thank me for saving you hundreds, even thousands, in additional repair costs!

Thank you so much. The BG syncroshift II with additive really made a difference in my MT82 transmission. It shifts so smoothly now and 5th gear grind is gone ?

I had a great experience, I ran over something that damaged my car and I was able to get my car in quickly. A few days after that repair my check engine light came on, for something completely unrelated to my repair. I was able to bring my car in first thing that morning, and was back on the road in less than 2 hours, check engine light fixed. 🙂

I’ve been dealing with Allen’s Automotive since they were next to Autos Unlimited. Larry and Jeff are both amazing mechanics. There’s not a shop around that I truly trust to do honest work and charge a fair price. If they did alignments I’d never go anywhere else. Keep up the excellent work!

Redemption Apologetics

Poor communication. Poor customer service. We went to this auto shop to install a new fuel pump system in our van. Turns out the van was in the same condition, and then the gas gauge no longer worked (which they did not mention at all, we had to figure it out). We tried contacting them, no response and no returned calls. This auto shop charged us over $600 (still the same issue with van, not fixed). So we went to a different auto shop in Monticello. They (new shop in Monticello not Allen's) informed us that our previous installer installed a "faulty" fuel pump, fuel pump system was junk (that was installed by this auto shop). So they (auto shop i n Monticello) offered to fix it. They fixed it properly and charged less money (little over $400). Moreover, they also fixed the gas gauge. We also had a 3 year warranty on the fuel pump, we returned it, lady at the desk said she would contact me when I will receive my money back. It has been 5 months and they still have not called me. Nor do they answer my calls or return my phone calls. Deeply disappointed. I do not recommend it.

Agent Hurt

Went in to get timing belt and serpentine belts replaced. Got the car back and apparently the water pump pulley bolts weren't torqued down at all and lost 2 out the 3 holding it together. Serpentine belt slipped off causing issues. Called them up to say it was their fault because they worked on it last. They never called back. Ended up having to fix it myself.

Larry, Betty and their crew do an excellent job with this business...their years of experience show in everything they do. They're easy to work with, very flexible around your schedule...they will never blindly fix something that they happen upon, but are quick to touch base to let you know what they found; your call on how they proceed. What a auto repair place should be!
