My daughter has been with CalColor for more than 10 years, this statement alone has already indicated how much we love this art school. The teachers at Calcolor all hold art degrees from top art schools, they are very passionate about art, they are active artists themselves and dedicated to pass along their art knowledge to the kids. The curriculum is well-structured; start with the beginner classes for younger kids which is really fun and on various media, to help younger kids build passion for art, then the intermediate level of class to build solid foundations of techniques for drawing and painting, then the advanced class tailored towards teenagers to perfect their skills. My daughter went through all levels of classes at Calcolor. Last year, she was in Mr. Sean’s sketchbook class, she absolutely loved the class. Mr. Sean is a great artist himself, his class not only teaches the fundamental sketch skills, but also inspire kids to explore new ideas, to discover beauty from ordinary scenes. The drawing my daughter created in Mr Sean’s sketchbook class under his guidance has won Gold Key Award in the Scholastic Art Contest.

I highly recommend Calcolor for any kid who is passionate for art.

My kids have taken classes at Cal Color Academy for the last 2 years. They always look forward to class and enjoy the projects. The teachers here are very nice and experienced with kids. They made learning and perfecting art so much fun!

Both of my kids started with Teacher Katy and the younger one is still in her class. She teaches them great skills and also inspires them to keep improving. She is very patient with my high energy 6 year old.

My older one has moved on to Teacher Bethany’s class this year and is thoroughly enjoying the more complex art projects.

The teachers here are amazing and truly care. The whole program/academy is very organized. We highly recommend this place!

Our daughter started at CalColor a couple years ago, doing digital art. She had an amazing teacher, Ms. Serena, who was fun and engaging but also talented and so caring. Now she has Mr. Joseph, who is great too. It’s not cheap, so if our daughter wasn’t so passionate about art, we would have second thoughts. It seems worth it for the young aspiring artist, but some promotions would help. Each class is two hours too, so doing make ups can be tough.

Overall, we’re enjoying the experience and recommend CalColor to all our friends and family.

One of the standout aspects of CalColor is the quality of their teaching staff. My daughter was fortunate to be part of Mr. Alvin's elite class, where she learned advanced techniques and developed her unique artistic voice. Later, she joined Mr. Sean's sketch class, which further honed her skills and deepened her understanding of sketching and composition. Recently, she started exploring digital painting with Ms. Niko, and it's amazing to see her embrace this new medium with enthusiasm.

The curriculum at CalColor is well-structured yet flexible enough to adapt to each child's progress and interests. The instructors not only focus on technical skills but also encourage creativity and self-expression, which has been crucial in keeping my daughter engaged and motivated.

Updated review to call out the sketchbook class taught by Mr Sean. My daughter has been in his class for more than a year and she loves it. Mr Sean is not only good at teaching techniques but also excelled at coaching kids to find their own styles of expression. He is encouraging and made the class really fun. The curriculum is well designed and the topics are well suited for kids’ interests. It does not take my kid long to efficiently draw with good perspectives, compositions, and story telling. Furthermore, Mr Sean’s teaching inspires her to be 10x more creative and she now has a habit of journaling with her sketchbook 🙂
