I’ve been taking classes at Yellow Door for over a year now, mostly the intermediate wheel throwing courses but also the hand building and hybrid courses. I came in with prior experience, and I’ve been consistently impressed by the knowledgeable instructors (especially Sarah!), welcoming atmosphere, and well-equipped studio.

One thing I really appreciate is the flexibility to work on your own projects if you’d like, while still learning new techniques from the instructors’ demonstrated projects. It’s the perfect balance of structure and creative freedom. The courses are reasonably priced and an amazing value for the quality of instruction and resources provided.

Class nights are a highlight of my week! I can’t recommend this studio enough for potters of any level.

My best friend and I took an 8 week beginners course as our introduction into pottery. Neither of us had ever done it before. Every single person we have interacted with at Yellow Door has been amazing. They are helpful, encouraging, and great teachers. As newbies we were nervous to start but each week our confidence grew and so did the skill! We had so much fun each week. We will be taking another course next session!

What an absolutely splendid way to spend a couple of hours! My friends and I took a one night class with Tracee and learned so much about wheel throwing and clay in such a short amount of time. Tracee was thorough in her explanations and, most importantly, patient with her class of beginners. Tracee offered assistance when needed and was an amazing cheerleader throughout the whole class. Although my creations weren't perfect, she helped me see the beauty in them and I couldn't be more proud of my first attempts! And just to heap praise on our experience, Tracee didn't even bat an eye as my friends and I lived out our Ghost moment and channelled our inner Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore. If you're looking to have a great time and create some interesting/one of a kind art then this is the place for you!

If you’ve never taken a pottery class or are a seasoned potter, this is the place to go! The owners are exceptional humans and do all the things that make a small business stand out in its field. I had no previous experience in ceramics but have taken several classes at Yellow Door and the instructors are top notch. While I don’t consider myself “artistic”, being part of this creative world has been so good for my overall well being and happiness!
