My daughter just left the school. She has told me how unhappy she was there. Teachers, management and overall school is bad. They’re very racist and not polite. They demanded respect but didn’t bother giving it in return. She went to go there to get a trade was there for a whole 2 months and just wasted her time there. Overall students are there as dropouts of high school and go there for a solution but in my daughter’s case that wasn’t the point. She was just looking to do a trade. Food is garbage. They say they give the students allowance the whole entire time I was sending her money. I don’t recommend this place to no one.

Hello, my name is Wilson Figueroa. I am a former job corp student at shriver Job Corp from (March 28th 2023 - April 5th 2024). My experience there was HORRIBLE. Honestly, where do I even begin to talk about how bad Shriver is? Well for one, the management is trash, the workers there don't care about the kids at ALL just the money. Then the food there is inedible and disgusting to the point where some kids have gotten sick from it in the past. The buildings are disgusting and not even properly repaired, in each and every building they have damaged walls, floors, ceilings, even some if the dorms have clogged toilets and they don't do anything about it. Some of the students in there also like to cause trouble with you for absolutely no reason at all, it's annoying. Do NOT come here to shriver Job corps at all, it is going to be a horrible experience. If I could rate this negative 10 out of 10 I would...

Job corp is a terrible place alone they have no reg regard for their staff or students. The food is in edible. The management is intolerable and unbearable if I could give this place negative stars I would 10 out of 10 would not recommend and if you’re going to this place I feel so sorry for you and if you’re currently currently employed to this place, I feel even worse for you.

As somebody who has been to JC a couple of times, this is easily one of my worst experiences to date. Dishonesty in their chain of command runs rampant, the building is run down, bathrooms are practically destroyed, students are mostly disrespectful and have no sense of respect or consideration for themselves or anyone around them. The food is terrible nine times out of ten, and the staff is very jabby depending on how you act. My dorm’s bathroom is in disrepair, and my body constantly hurts from the uncomfortability of these beds. I would STRONGLY recommend staying away from this program as a whole.

My daughter currently goes here. Walking back to dorms at 8pm at night in a dangerous areas because the staffing is so short that they can't even manage their own students. The food is awful from what I've heard and seen. Food poisoning is nothing out of the blue here. Most students buy their own food and water because the facilities own resources are poor. Sexism runs rampant. Female dorm is run more strictly than the male dorm is. Favoritism is nothing new either. Residential advisors will favor certain students and give them favors and things they typically cannot have on center.
Overall. Do not send your kid here. Tell them to steer CLEAR.

Honestly, if you have no problem with keeping your head down, focusing on your future and are fine with strict rules, this may be the place for you. It is a great opportunity to get your diploma, driver's license, and to complete a trade. On the other hand of things the majority of staff is pretty disrespectful and not all of them care whether or not you succeed. If you have no problem tolerating constant disrespect then going here is a great way to find success. You even get free food (not to say the food is great) and free housing.

They allow 25 year Olds to be with 16 year Olds and say nothing but the second you where a hoodie (the hood isn't on your head too) they get upset
They make up a big deal about leaving through the wrong door in the cafeteria too
This place is mad old and they never fix things they say they'll fix
You constantly have to nag Staff about getting things done
Staff tries to hold you back after you are completed or try to transfer to another center

I graduated from there back in 2011, it was a great place to finish my early education. The instructors were great, housing was free, we were fed 3 times a day. I would highly recommend Shriver to anyone who wants to finish their education.
