So obviously i’m a student here. Obviously it isn’t that bad, but I just want you to notice this, because I have a very important thing to say.
So over the years, dating back to even Kindergarten, classes usually have a lesson from the teacher for students to better understand content.
However, it seems that recently the school has been trying to make its classes based solely on ‘self paced’ work. In which they will give their students a large objective, i.e StudyIsland, or IXL. However, they will not give students an active lesson on what they’re going to be learning.
In addition to that, with the new ChromeBooks being a part of the standards, I have 1st hand seen that the teachers of this school, and the school administrators are all overusing these. Last year, my first year of school here, we had normal assignments and projects which usually involved posters, or papers. However, I feel as if the teachers now think they can replace a paper with a Google Doc. They don’t think it is necessary to have a poster board when you could just have a Google Slide. I personally don’t like this method of teaching, and I have asked, and much, much more than 50% of those people agree.
So yeah, that’s really why I am not liking the way this school year is going. I used to enjoy school, but it feels more like the only times I enjoy from this year, are when I am reminded of previous ones. I know that nobody at HC is going to care about what some kid has to say, but that is my opinion and i’m firm on it.
