I attended a continuing education class in October of 2022, David Lauterstein teaching "Deep Massage for the Realm of the Heart". The campus is fantastic and I'm looking forward to attending another class with David this year. There are some classes that really feel inspiring to me and the class with David Lauterstein and the hospitality from Downeast School of Massage provided that. I'm approaching 19 years as an LMT, they are helping me stay enthusiastic about the profession so I can keep following a career that I love

The Downeast School of Massage is one of the few schools in the country still taught and run by its founder. Nancy Dale, with over forty years' experience as a massage therapist, educator and director, and mentor, is also the co- author of several textbooks, including the "Manual of Kinesiology," which is used in class.

During my full time year with them as a student, I was grateful for the expert teaching of successful leaders in the industry, an organized curriculum and an overall environment of integrity, safety, healing and professionalism.

Our class received a top- notch education in physiology with a focus on soft tissue and fascial science and manipulation, and comprehensive training in massage therapy technique. Additionally, the school equipped us with a strong foundation of body mechanics, healthy posture, professional boundaries and self care so we could take this career well into the future without burnout.

As a practicing therapist, I continue to hear that Downeast graduates are some of the best educated and equipped massage therapists out there. So grateful to Nancy and all the staff and instructors at Downeast, and grateful to be part of this community.

I graduated my 1k hr massage program from a prestigious school in SoCal and I enrolled in Down East Massage School with my veterans benefits to refresh my training. I quickly discovered that this was one of the fake School I heard horror stories about. I requested to be dropped from the program and they told me everything was okay, then they continued to bill my account for the entire 12k$ program and they blocked my phone # and email and ghosted me. The government has been garnishing my wages off KY disability for PTSD for the last 3 years and I still have several left to pay off the exhorbant amount of debt they incurred on me. I love helping people and serving my country and I hate that for the rest of my life I have to live with the burden of mistrust in others and the institutions that claim to be about peace and love. DO NOT GO TO DOWNEAST MASSAGE SCHOOL. They waste your time and take as much money as they can from you. God bless.

Therapists learn anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, self-care, ethics, and so much more. Just as valuable are the caring, support, personal growth, and close bonds formed all with a healthy dose of ‘heart’ in a beautiful, relaxing setting. Thankfully, the learning, guidance and friendship continue well beyond graduation, because they keep in touch and have outstanding continuing education courses.

I am privileged to have known the owner of The Downeast School of Massage, Nancy Dail, for over 30 years. Maine is so lucky to have one of the great "legacy" school of massage, right there in a beautiful setting in Waldoboro, Maine. They built their school on their land, right on a lovely pond. It is an incredible place to learn with great, caring teachers, small classes with close, careful supervision, an extremely refined curriculum, and administered by one of greatest pioneers in our field, Nancy Dail!
