DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER/LOVED ONE HERE!!!
(For reference my family member has been to 5 other hospitals this past year battling a variety of health issues and ANY OTHER HOSPITAL would be my recommendation)
I am extremely disappointed with the care my family member has received at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. We have experienced a severe lack of transparency and communication regarding his medical condition, treatment plan, and care options. Despite being his next of kin, I have repeatedly been left in the dark about critical decisions regarding his health, which culminated in the hospital pushing for guardianship over him without adequately informing or involving our family. (Thankfully I can financially afford proper representation but I know many people can’t)
THEY WERE PURPOSELY MISLEADING!!
The staff has been dismissive of my concerns and questions, and I have not received proper explanations about anything regarding him! Furthermore, I believe the hospital has not provided clear discharge instructions or adequate follow-up care plans, leaving us unsure of how to ensure his well-being.
PURPOSELY AVOIDING AND IGNORING all my emails and calls regarding policy & standards here (probably because they know they didn’t follow it)
The lack of communication and responsiveness from the hospital has caused immense stress and frustration for my family. I would not recommend this hospital based on my experience, and I hope the administration takes immediate steps to address these significant issues.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!
Crazy how the nurses change every shift and the (MD) Doctors weekly but can make such life changing decisions for someone they know nothing about. This health journey has been difficult and heart breaking enough.. Sad to say I am sure none of this would be the case if he wasn’t elderly and didn’t have insurance willing to pay out for absolutely everything/anything.

I was scheduled for a follow up CT scan. At 830. I was told to come a half hr to check in. The evening before I got a very unprofessional and garbled voice mail saying I needed to come an hr early for some kind of blood work. I arrived at 7:17 am and the lab had no record of me needing bloodwork. I went to radiology by 745. They had no idea. I called the number back that called the night before. I got someone in the CT lab. He asked my name and questions about diabetes kidney failure and dialysis. I was going to have my kidney checked, but I am not on dialysis or in failure. So I answered no. He said he had had no idea why I needed bloodwork or why anyone would have called. 810 I get called back and was asked did you get your blood work done? I explained the situation. He said he would draw my blood when I did my IV but I would have to wait for results of the blood work before I could have the CT scan. Two blown out veins and a half hour later I had my IV in and blood drawn. Except I've missed my appointment and I was here over an hour early. I still am waiting for my 830am CT scan and results of the bloodwork I was here to get at 7:17 and nobody seems to know if I needed or not, and it is approaching 930. I lost my spot and now I have to wait. I have been fasting I haven't had anything to eat or drink. I'm late for work. This whole experience has been a shit show. The man who blew out my veins and did do the bloodwork was very nice and apologetic but that doesn't get me to work or my CT scan done or solve the mystery as if or why I needed bloodwork and why only one person seemed to know about it. It's scary. If I can't get a simple blood test, IV and scan I hate to think what happens with more serious stuff. I better not get a bill for any unnecessary bloodwork because I am not paying it. They aren't paying for my hours I'm not at work. My husband and I have been getting slews of bills in the last few weeks from providers at this facility from ER to primary care to specialists that we didn't owe because it was never billed to insurance from over 6 months ago. This place has gone to the dogs.
Update I finally left at 1030 2 hrs after my apartment because nobody can answer why there was no bloodwork order at the lab. I called the customer care number on all these reviews and got a voicemail so don't bother.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My friend had a serious concussion, and all the hospital staff did was make it worse. They stuck him in a hospital bed in the middle of the hall, directly underneath a bright light. They allowed him to leave after six hours instead of keeping him overnight like they should have; he couldn't remember his own name and started having trouble breathing. Later that night, he had to go back because he was throwing up profusely, and they sent him home immediately without telling any of the lucid people about his condition or prescription. Completely irresponsible and inexcusable. I was worried I could lose my friend that night, and this place didn't make it any easier.

My father was a patient at the Geriatric Behavioral Health. He body temp was allowed to get to 93 degrees twice. Hypothermia. Hypothermia is listed on his death certificate. He was allowed to fall multiple times. He died with a black eye and laceration on his face. This place deserved to be served with criminal charges.

Slow slow arrive 30 mins early for appointment then they get you in 30 mins late and we werebthe first appointment. Then the doctors couldn't do their jobs the primary sends you to CT scan because something is wrong the the gas dr doesn't get back with you for enf of business even though the CT was stat. Then you gave to come back to er 2 days later in such pain and the surgeon and er Dr wanna pass the buck and do nothing tells us go back to gastro dr so no back at gastro dr to see if they can do their jobs on time and correctly if not were headed to Vanderbilt hospital wherr a dr cares and your life and will do something to help thier patients. Now has happened several times at this hospital. Its ashame doctors don't care enough to do thier jobs . Let alone getting thierselves to work on time . They should be passing us for not getting us in on time when they are late to even show up at work .we deserve better care

Never going back there again. The doctor, MARY ANN AUSTIN, visited me 3 times within 4 hours. Usually wouldn't have a problem with the wait as I understand there are many other patients requiring her attention. But when they got my lab results back, and a few ALARMING things showed up, she did nothing to treat them. Shamed me for wanting to ask questions, and did not listen when I repeatedly told her that the lab results were incorrect as a different medication I was taking altered the results. This I knew for a fact. It has happened to my mother before (she takes the same medication i do.) Discharged me saying my symptoms were because of the INCORRECT lab results. Diagnosed me with sinus tachycardia, high BP, and hypokalemia, and did nothing to treat it. just sent me home with anti nausea meds. Absolutely disgusting patient care. She should be ashamed of herself, telling me that my questions were not important because she had other patients. If you ever get her as a doctor in the ER, you should definitely ask for another doctor or go elsewhere. Would not trust her.
UPDATE: went back because symptoms got worse. Had a new doctor that was worse than the last! Told me not everything was about me after i complained that nobody was talking to me about my test results after each visit, and instead just sending me home. Its okay to have other patients, but when you walk into my room to talk to me about whats going on, it is all about me! He also wouldn't listen to me, and shamed me for coming back even though symptoms got worse! I had to drive an hour away to find competent doctors who would actually help me. The nurses, however, are extremely kind.

This hospital saved my life! I came to the ER last month for breathing issues and was brought back immediately and found out the issue and they saved me and made me feel at ease from the ER to the hospital admitting discharge. They did not write me off at all. Thank you MCCH! ❤️
