My child has been dancing here for three years, and every summer. We love it here!!! The amount of skill she has learned is amazing, but even more so is the confidence she has gained. The staff is beyond amazing, patient, and are able to keep up with every child's needs and skill level. You HAVE to check out the productions ? massive amounts of talent with the staff, and I'm loving every year we attend! The owner plans so many great activities throughout the summer for the public to attend, has fun with the kids, is involved in the community and loves every single child! Best studio ever! We'll never leave

We have been part of the Spotlight Family for 5 years now and we love it more and more each year. The owner, Mallory is incredibly talented, full of patience (I wish I had half the patience she has) and very professional, always. All of the staff at Spotlight carry so much passion for dance, are extremely helpful, and have YEARS of expertise that will help each student develop with their skills. Whether your child wants to dance for fun or competitively, Spotlight offers several options for you and for ALL ages. Our daughters are 7 and 2; both are obsessed with dance because of Spotlight and Miss Mallory. Classes are ran in an organized manner (even the little babies) and the end-of-year recitals are nothing but extraordinary & so memorable. We are beyond thankful to have SDA in Ottawa!

I attended the 2020/21 Troupe performance at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium. The students worked hard and their performances were awesome.

However, to expect students, less then 4 years old, to set quitely in a room for over 2 plus hours before they perform, in my opinion, is a bit extreme. Even some of the paying guests in the auditorium were getting "anxious" during the last 10 numbers.

Then when a concerned parent brings this to the attention of an instructor, they are abruptly asked not to return next year's classes. It goes to show one that the instructors are not effective at planning and professional when communicating with parents. I would not recommend having your child enrolled in this academy. Passion is one thing but instructors being obsessive and rude is another.

As a previous review stated, there is a massive communication void especially for the “new dance moms”. What’s worse as I tried to communicate with Spotlight my concerns of the lack of communication directly in a personal professional manner and I was basically told we can hit the road. I was very disappointed they could not take constructive criticism or listen to the concerns of their customers. What happened to the customer was always right? Especially a parent who always excelled in fundraisers for the studio and promoted the dance studio with passion. Very upsetting the way I was treated after I tried to communicate my concerns. Therefore I will make sure others are aware of the situation and are saved the heartbreak my two year old and I have endured. I would have thought they would handle this situation with grace versus acting like I’m just a number.
